While I am OK with manual flash for off-camera work I also keep two Nikon SB-600 speedlights for TTL on-camera casual shooting and run-and-gun event shooting. Godox TT600 zoom must be manually set on the back of speedlight. YN 560-TX offers manual remote zoom from the TX. (I am uncertain if the YN wake-up feature works on the Nikon Z bodies) If you're not a Canon or Nikon shooter this item doesn't apply. YongNuo's Canon/Nikon distinction provides flash wake-up upon half-press of camera's shutter button when used on matching brand camera. The universal Flashpoint single-pin triggers don't support HSS. The Godox trigger must match the camera brand for HSS to work. Godox TT600 offers HSS mode flash as a radio slave (but not on camera's hot-shoe) while YN 560 has no HSS capability. Here are a few operational differences I'm aware of: I went with YN 560 manual flash gear before Godox became popular and currently use the YN 560-TX, 3 YN 560III speedlights, and 2 pr YN RF-603II triggers. If you do you will need a Godox S2 Bracket to hold the speedlight. If you are going to shoot portraits then you may want a softbox and stand. I'd recomend the XProN or, if you want a hotshoe on the trigger, the X2TN. I would advise against buying the X1TN, it's an old design and suffers from having too few buttons so you have to remember all the long push/short push combinations to work it. Not because the TT600 is intrinsically superior to the Yongnuo but because your options for extending the equipment in future is far greater with the Godox range. I would recommend you go with the Godox option. I'm inclined to go with the Godox, because it is slightly cheaper, but I'd be interested in which people prefer in terms of usability or reliability.

I'm currently using a Nikon D40 (though I hope to upgrade to something like the Z50 by Easter)

#YONGNUO YN 560 III TUTORIAL PORTABLE#

I'm thinking about getting into portrait photography when the lockdown ends and I'm looking for an budget external flash that is powerful enough to enable me to take portraits at a low ISO and narrow aperture, but is portable enough to carry around London comfortably and could also be occasionally used as an on-camera flash.
